Could you please tell us about yourself a little bit?
I spent my childhood by disrupting and repairing my toys and electronics like every other boy.
I believe that the seeds of becoming an engineer were planted during these years. You could actually tell my age when I say “my electronics”. I was born in Tekirdag in 1990. I studied Electronics and Communication Engineering at Haliç University. After working on domestic and foreign investment incentives, our roads crossed with UNECO in 2015. In the process of developing the organizational structure of our company, I have played an important role in our development by creating an enjoyable synergy environment. Currently, I manage all the processes from design to production of big manufacturers in the industry. I am also a member of the Young Gentlemen's Committee under the BEYSAD organization.
Could you please tell us about your company and its business?
With the widespread use of LED lighting, ÜNA Energy Corp. started its business on lighting electronics. The origin of our company is actually food industry and it is a regional distributor of food and has entered the electronics sector later in order to produce higher value products. During the process, it was recognized by UNECO in the market. Our company serves in two locations. Designing and operations take place in our Istanbul office while production takes place in our head office which is in Kastamonu. The introduction of LED Modules, especially in the lighting sector, has led to the derivation of new companies in the field of lighting electronics, requiring a multidisciplinary approach that works collectively in electronics, lighting, thermal and optics.
When did your company’s and your roads cross?
As a matter of fact, I think that this cooperation is a chance for both sides. When I was working on investment incentives, a sector change that was not in my mind at that time of the day came into question and I had the opportunity to meet UNECO officials in an organization. Our company was also new in those days, and after climbing up step by step, we are proud of serving 5 sectors today. Since 2015, we have been working within our company in accordance with our common vision and we have achieved an enjoyable synergy environment.
Could you tell us about the organizational structure of your company?
Since we are carrying out all the processes from design to mass production within our own structure, we provide 360 degree engineering services and we can think on behalf of our customers. Thus; we get the results of projects which already have been evaluated in a shorter period of time. Our ERP system is working through the cloud. In this way, all information can be reached momentarily, we can keep communication at the highest level. Our other point of focus is to provide products for which our customers can have direct technical installation where their electronic knowledge and skills are limited in order to facilitate their quality control, purchasing and operational processes.
Which sectors do you serve?
We serve all sectors that work with lighting: such as white goods, automotive, advertising and defense industry. In addition to these, we provide the necessary support to the companies in terms of software and we can also bring them into semi-finished products in order to facilitate their production.
Can you tell us about your export rates and the countries that you are exporting to?
According to our records, by the end of 2018 we had exported to 10 countries. In general, we export to Western European countries, Germany is the country we work mostly with. We have recently sent products to Peru. This was a very exciting experience for us.
What are the features that distinguish you from your competitors?
We think that we have come forward with our desire to raise the business quality of the companies we work with, not as a supplier, as a solution partner or even as a department within their organizations. We question how we can reduce the operation costs by increasing the quality and how we can improve the product with more than just the logic of making and selling. In addition to this, a very serious information unit is formed in order to work for many different sectors. Each sector has its own dynamics and expectations. Different quality approaches, different design and application processes are involved. When you collect them in a common area, very good results and proactive approaches are formed. I think working in more than one sector is another important factor that distinguishes us from our competitors.
Could you inform us about your new investments and R & D activities?
In fact investment is a process the requirements of which never end. We accept business from not only supplying machinery and equipment but also investing in production at international standards which will definitely be an amazing experience for us. In addition, we are constantly researching and planning to improve our range of machinery and equipment.R & D is not a unit or a specific stage within our sector, but the process itself.Because it is such a widespread phenomenon that has developed rapidly in the last 10 years and still continues to grow.In addition to all this, there is an endless R & D process and legal obligations that make the use of LEDS obligatory. In addition, we produce concept products in our R & D department, evaluate them together with our customers and make promising works.
How was your 2018, what is your forecast for 2019?
2018 was not bad but a difficult year. We have achieved our goals that we determined in the beginning of the year. However, we see that we couldn’t fully pay off for the effort we spent.
When we look at the economy separately, we can say that it is actually a success even to maintain your current position in size. We set new targets for 2019 and we have already made a good start. I don't think it will be a worse year than 2018, but it will still be a difficult year for us.
How do you see the development of Industry 4.0 in Turkey? Do you have any preliminary work or measures?
I think our country has a serious ability to adapt to new technologies. It will also quickly get used to this process. But in order to strengthen the interaction between the sectors, I think to comprehend the economical stage we are going through right now is very important. It is a tough stage but there could be significant opportunities that need to be taken as well. We are confident that Turkey will detect these opportunities and use them correctly. We aim to minimize the muscle power of human beings and to impose the mind and analytical thinking on the system to the highest degree in all our processes. For this reason, our entire operationwe are planning to invest in technological infrastructure with more automation. As I mentioned earlier, our ERP system works in the form of instant data over the cloud, which allows us to create a more efficient and measurable working surface. We see that the flexible production model with Industry 4.0 is important to us.For this reason, we shape our processes in order to produce flexible, fast and efficient production.
What do you think about BEYSAD and what are your expectations from BEYSAD?
First of all, I want to express how happy we are for being a member of BEYSAD that just celebrated its 25th birthday. We can even see from a shared data and publications that it is a professionally managed organization. I think we're going to enjoy being a part of the organizations a lot. As a company, we can define our expectations such as creating a platform where we can create a network, create a synergy with the stakeholders of the sector and increase our mutual benefits.
