Could you please tell us about yourself?
I was born in Ankara in 1981. I graduated from Selçuk University, Electric-Electronics Engineering. I am the founder of Getek.
Could you please tell us about your company and its operations?
Getek is a story of entrepreneurship that emerged in 2009. At the time, as I was working for a private company as an R&D Engineer, I decided to realize my goal of founding my own business – o goal I had in mind since university. When the project I presented to TÜBİTAK Techno-entrepreneurship Support was accepted, I founded Getek.
As a company, we create electronic designs and software for elevators, white goods, and defense industries and we produce the products we design. We have an experienced and dynamic R&D team. We developed over 30 products in 3 sectors and we are the only domestic maker of certain products.
As an approach, we create designs that are trend-setters, groundbreaking, innovative and customer oriented. We enjoy doing / trying to do that.
What products and solutions do you offer the white goods sector? Could you please give details on this?
We design and produce electronic control units for ovens, fume hoods, and vitro ceramic cookers. In the near future, we are planning to embark on R&D projects also for other white goods.
Two points drew our attention, as we started to provide service to the white goods sector.
First: although many units of white goods were produced in our country, since there were not sufficient number of and high-quality domestic electronics producers, electronic control units were largely imported.
Second: many of the electronic control units used in the products were the same. Producers purchased the same electronic units from the same producer(s) and made their ovens, fume hoods and cookers, etc., which made it impossible to separate the product of one producer from the product of another and also led to end users using uniform and uninventive products.
As a company, we created our designs based on these two concerns in mind. We tried to be innovative in model, color, button combination, product software and visuals. Even the producers that use the same electronic card by us can develop a completely different model of a product with a few changes. With the visual supports we offer to companies; we help them with what they can create using our electronic units.
We offer original, innovative and trend products in a wide range from the most basic timers for embedded ovens to smart full-automatic electronic control units with color TFT screens. We also design different and original products for vitroceramic ovens and fume hoods.
Our goal is to create customized designs for each customer, making them original and different, rather than selling the same electronic units to all the producers.
What distinguishes you from your competitors?
I think that what basically distinguishes us and our products from our competitors is our point of view and our way of business. As a company, for whichever sector and whichever product we design, we care for adding one-of-a-kind, different, innovative and our own touches to our creations. We use globally accepted and implemented methods and we get trainings. We try to implement the methods we learnt as a team at the “Design Oriented Thinking” workshop at Koc University on all our works.
With this point of view, we can present the cutting-edge technological methods and trends to our customers. Also, differently from our competitors, we can create customized designs for our customers. Thus, producers can have different products in the market with the electronic units used only in their products.
Could you please tell us about your new investments and R&D operations?
Today, the power of businesses and countries lies largely in their investments in R&D. Those businesses and countries that make high investments in R&D can develop original products and services, be sustainable and they are not or are minimally impacted by any negativities.
Getek, since it was founded, has commercialized entirely the products it designed. Therefore, and with this perspective, R&D is for us the most important and enjoyable operation. That we develop products for a variety of sectors reinforces our point of view, the technologies we use, and our designing skills and positively affect the designs we create for other sectors.
With the products we design with the new Full-Automatic Electronic Typesetting line we made at the beginning of 2021, we have now reached a level of producing at the IPC Class-3 category.
Could you tell us about your export rates and which countries do you export the most?
We have not yet started exporting directly to the white goods sector. Our products are indirectly exported via producers. There are foreign companies from a few different countries which we had meetings with, sent sample products and got positive feedback from. We are planning to start directly exporting our products in the near future.
What are your goals in the upcoming period as Getek?
We attracted the attention of major-league producers with the products we designed and started working with many companies. In the upcoming period, we aim to create electronic designs for all products needed by the white goods sector and fill the deficiency in the area.
Considering specifically the sector, we will carry on moving forward “taking small steps towards big dreams” to become a globally renown, loved, accepted and trend-setting brand in all the things we do and we will do despite the social doctrine that says “to live off of our own hump” imposed on us.
What are your thoughts on and expectations of BEYSAD?
I think the presence, operations, and contributions of BEYSAD to improve and fulfill the needs of sector companies are very valuable and important. We are happy to be a member of BEYSAD and we hope that we will achieve value adding projects for our country and sector together. I would like to thank you for your interest and wish success in your work.
