The Association of White Goods’ Suppliers (BEYSAD) drafted the first document collectively after the first Search Conference held in 2012 in our project “White Goods’ Suppliers Industry Strategy Document“ project that took off in 2011. With the Search Conferences held in December 2013, 2015, and 2017, new revisions were prepared and shared with the sector. In line with the directions and activities set in these documents, the operations continued on the Association and Committees levels with the attendance of the shareholders.
The first Search Conference, the most important step of the BEYSAD Strategy Documents activities, was held in Bolu Abant Palace Hotel on May 4-6, 2012 with the attendance of 34 people; the second on December 13-15, 2013 with 47 people; the third on December 11-13, 2015 with 47 people; and the fourth in Bolu Gazelle Hotel on December, 15-17, 2017 with 68 people.
For updating the Strategy Document to include 2020-2022, the sector’s and BEYSAD’s 81 major shareholders came together in Bolu Gazelle Hotel once again for the Fifth Search Conference on December 13-15, 2019.
BEYSAD President Mr. Ş. Burak Özaydemir stated on the subject: “We, BEYSAD, think that objectives, plans, and activities formed by common mind and realized by participation are critical to make us different in the positive sense in this era filled with increased changes and risks for the sector and for the industry. We gladly see the importance and effect of the projects such as the Efficiency Center and the Strategy Document related activities. In this regard, our Search Conferences where we revisit the global and sector-related priorities by a high participation of shareholders and using common mind and we update our strategies accordingly form a significant platform for our Association and our Sector. We believe that this year’s conference has become a success in planning the sector’s priorities, BEYSAD’s next term and concrete projects with a new participant profile and an updated method. We would like to thank everyone who attended and who made this Conference happen.”
Since the onset of the operations, the Sector Strategy Document has been aimed to be a living document; thus, this Search Conference was organized to update objectives and activities and to draft a new document, after which we plan to issue the Strategy Document for 2020-2022 to guide the Sector and the operations of our Association.
The Search Conference is a working order that allows us to create a common perspective, to find solutions to our common problems, to determine what needs to be done to achieve better and improve, and to set common objectives. In a traditional conference setting, one or several individuals take the stage to present certain topics and the rest will listen; however, in the Search Conference, to the contrary, all of the participants speak in an orderly fashion and come up with an outcome.
With this awareness, this year’s Search Conference moderated by Milar Business Advisory Services Manager Kerim Han Milar brought together the representatives from the white goods’ suppliers industry, the representatives from the white goods main industry (Arçelik, BSH, Vestel) and representatives from the public and bureaucracy (T.R. Ministry of Industry and Technology), media, academics and the world of business close to the white goods sector, who each contributed in different perspectives to the conference.
At the start of this Search Conference, the presentation prepared by the Özyeğin University, the School of Business, Department of Economics, Head Prof. Dr. Ümit Özlale was given at Friday evening’s session. The presentation contained impressive details and data, received a great deal of attention, and took very long with the Q&A session. This presentation formed an important background for the next sessions of the event.
The sessions were comprised of 5 Stages and a general evaluation of the outcomes:
- Stage 1 Trends Affecting the White Goods Suppliers’ Industry in the World and in Turkey
- Stage 2 The White Goods Suppliers’ Industry SWOT-PEST Matrix
- Stage 3 – Briefing on BEYSAD’s Activities and Projects (2017-2019)
- Stage 4 – The White Goods Suppliers’ Industry Future Predictions
- Stage 5 – Major Project Titles for the Upcoming Term (BEYSAD Action Plan 1-2-3)
- General evaluation of the outcomes
The program included, besides Prof. Dr. Ümit Özlale’s presentation on economy, BEYSAD Vice-President F. Murat Öney and BEYSAD Board Member-Young Beysad Lead D. Yasemin Aksu’s presentation of the activities of BEYSAD, the presentation on the “Digitalization of Turkey” by T.R. Ministry of Industry and Technology Expert Sertaç Köksal Gölnar, the presentation on “BEYSAD-Özyeğin University Industry 4.0 Efficiency Center activities” by BEYSAD President Ş. Burak Özaydemir and Özyeğin University, School of Engineering Professor Dr. Erinç Albey on technical details, and the presentation on “Government Supports and Incentives” by Alkaze-Albert Solino Incentive Consulting, Co-Founder and Senior Specialist Erden Tüzünkan.
The sessions began on Friday evening, December 13 at 08.30 P.M. and lasted until 01.30 P.M. December 15. At times big groups and at times smaller groups discussed the above-listed topics to find the common mind. The meetings progressed from the whole to pieces and revealed the wishes and threats for the sector’s future. We recorded what needs to be done to make the wishes a reality and and eliminate threats.
In the conference which was highly constructive and productive, opposing ideas were discussed to move the sector forward. The outcomes of these activities will be transformed into action plans and our periodical follow-up will continue as with the previous events. We keep on working to share a new activity book with the sector very soon.
We would like to thank everyone who put great effort in organizing this event and all our participants who contributed.
We would like to thank TET (Union of Electric and Electronic Exporters) Executives and Employees who gave us moral and material support in the Search Conference, as in the previous one and wish to have continued cooperation with you.
