The IFA Berlin fair, which is Europe's most comprehensive technology show and where the latest technological products and developments are introduced to visitors, has been held since 1924. It is one of the most important fairs of our industry, where many electronic products from smart phones to televisions, from computers to white goods and wearable technologies are exhibited.
As BEYSAD, we attended the IFA 2023 Berlin fair, which was held on 1-5 September 2023 this year, with a delegation of 32 representatives from 18 member companies on 1-3 September. At the fair, we had the opportunity to see the innovative products of our brands that we are proud of producing in Turkey, and to take the pulse of world brands and sectoral trends. In addition to following the innovations, our delegation also provided important communications with the participants in order to establish new business connections. In addition to organizing the visit as BEYSAD, we had the opportunity to meet privately by making appointments with important brands such as BSH, Beko-Grundig, Vestel, Haier, Hisense-Gorenje for our delegation. The IFA Next section was also very interesting with the start-ups it hosted…
Some of the prominent brands that introduced their new products at the fair are as follows:
- Grundig introduced AI Sense, an artificial intelligence supported washing machine at IFA
Grundig supports a sustainable lifestyle with the innovative technologies it has developed. AI-Sense washing machine, which it introduced for the first time at IFA, offers solutions to the needs of consumers with the support of artificial intelligence. AI-Sense offers program options such as sensitive, fast, intensive and eco according to the needs of consumers, beyond the programs offered according to the type of textile offered to consumers by existing washing machines. With this technology, which is designed according to the needs of the consumer, not according to the type of laundry, it is sufficient for the consumer to choose according to the need for washing without having to think about the fabric type of their laundry. Thanks to the smart sensors integrated into the washing machine, the fabric type, loading amount, soiling and rinsing level are automatically detected. Thanks to the data obtained from the sensors and the automatic dosing system, AI-Sense creates the most accurate washing steps while keeping the detergent, water and energy consumption at the optimum level. While paying attention to water consumption, the rinsing performance is also monitored by smart sensors, and perfect rinsing performance is achieved with the optimum amount of water. With the Autodose feature that enables the use of liquid detergents, the product has a 32% lower carbon footprint throughout its life cycle compared to products that do not have this feature. 28% of the product weight consists of recycled material.
Speaking at the IFA 2023 fair, Arçelik Turkey General Manager Can Dinçer said: “With Grundig, our consumer electronics brand with the widest product range in Europe, our goal is to lead the transformation in people's daily lives and inspire sustainable lifestyles. Our artificial intelligence supported technology Grundig AI-Sense is a product of this approach. Intelligent sensors integrated into the AI Sense washing machine create the most accurate washing steps: It keeps detergent, water and energy consumption at the optimum level. Thanks to its automatic dosing feature that allows the use of liquid detergent, it has a 32% lower carbon footprint throughout its life cycle compared to products that do not have this feature. 28% of the product weight of our AI Sense washing machines consists of recycled materials.”
With the new generation smart home technologies it has developed, Grundig supports a sustainable lifestyle by monitoring the energy and water consumption used in homes.
- LG will provide cross-brand connectivity via LG Thinq smart home platform
LG Electronics (LG) is preparing to present the first commercial implementation of the Home Connectivity Alliance's HCA Specification 1.0, which enables cross-brand device connectivity via the LG ThinQ™ smart home platform. By the end of this year, consumers will be able to control their devices from different brands with the easy-to-use ThinQ app and have a smarter, more convenient home with seamless interconnection.
Widespread adoption of HCA Specification 1.0 makes it possible to monitor and control various brands of home appliances and air solutions using a single application. In order for users to control their products from a single point, regardless of brand, it is enough to register their products compatible with the ThinQ application. Then they are ready to enjoy the convenience and time-saving freedom of one-stop device management. For example, those who own an LG washing machine and a different brand of dishwasher will no longer have to switch between each manufacturer's application to set their preferred washing program and cleaning settings.
“LG ThinQ enables a seamlessly interconnected ecosystem of home appliances that will deliver new smart home experiences to customers around the world,” said Jung Ki-hyun, Vice President and Head of Platform Business Center. LG will continue to expand compatibility between ThinQ and other HCA members' smart home platforms.”
- Samsung unveils Bespoke AI™ Combo, washer dryer at IFA 2023
Samsung Electronics introduced the new BESPOKE AI™ Combo Washer Dryer with Digital Inverter Heat Pump technology at the consumer electronics trade fair IFA 2023 in Berlin today. It also saves time and space. The laundry experience is now more enjoyable and easier, while the Artificial Intelligence Energy Mode in SmartThings Energy saves energy.”
D. Yasemin Aksu, President of the Board of BEYSAD, made an assessment of the visit, and expressed her views as follows: “As BEYSAD, we visited the IFA fair, which we think is valuable in order to come together with our main industry and where we can see the trends shaping our industry closely, with a participation that matches even the pre-pandemic period.
At Europe's leading home technologies fair, it was remarkable that our industry quickly adapted to the changing energy labels. For example, refrigerators that were in the A+++ category until a few years ago were classified in the C category after the change; Class A devices that took their place at the fair showed how fast the industry was developing.
While the stands of the companies producing in Turkey were impressive, it was extremely proud to see that we had members participating with their stands this year as well. We would like to thank our main industries and our participants, who colored our group, for the sincere hospitality they showed us during our booth visits.”
Once again, we would like to thank all our stakeholders for their hospitality. We would also like to thank all our members who participated in the delegation.
