IFA Berlin, the leading trade fair for the international consumer electronics and technology industry, was held at the Messe Berlin Fairgrounds on September 6-10, 2024. The abbreviation IFA was changed to “Innovation For All” and the fair showcased artificial intelligence (AI) technology. The fair, which is Europe’s most comprehensive technology show, celebrated its 100th anniversary this year.
IFA, where the latest technological products and developments are exhibited, has been held every year since 1924. The fair, where many electronic products from smartphones to televisions, computers to white goods and wearable technologies are exhibited, is one of the most important fairs in our sector.
As BEYSAD; this year, for the first time in many years, we participated in the IFA 2024 Berlin Fair hosted by TET (Electrical and Electronics Exporters' Association) on September 6-10, 2024 with 20 of our BEYSAD member companies (Akplas Plastik, Alpplas Endüstriyel, Anot Makine, Başoğlu Kablo, Edes Endüstriyel, Egebant Zımpara, El-Se Kablo, Ferel Elektronik, Gençler Kablo, Güler Boru, Kabel Kablo, Konveyor Beyaz Eşya, Korel Elektronik, Punteks İzolasyon, Ruba Fermuar, San Metal, Seçil Kauçuk, Şahterm, Technocast, Teleset Elektromekanik) and as visitors on September 7-9, with a delegation of 15 people from 9 member companies (An-El Anahtar, Borçelik, Ekinler Endüstri, Has Vida, İspak Flexible Packaging, Kabel, Konveyor, Nar Emaye, Nova Elektrik). After the fair on the first day, a reception was held at our Embassy with representatives of our companies participating with stands.
BEYSAD Board of Directors President D. Yasemin Aksu, who made an assessment of the IFA 2024 Berlin fair, which has a rich content with stands and experience areas, expressed her views with the following words: “IFA Berlin is undoubtedly one of the most important fairs in its field for discovering trends that shape the future of the sector and establishing new business connections. As BEYSAD, it was exciting and proud to be here with nearly 50 representatives in total, both with stands and as visitors. We would like to thank each and every one of our representatives who were with us and wish them to establish productive business connections.
When looking at the fair in general, the sustainability approach, which was more prominent in previous years, gave way to artificial intelligence applications. While 100-inch and above screens became widespread in televisions, it was seen that the limits were being pushed in new energy classes. Another striking point is that, as a reflection of the economic outlook in the world, simpler and less flashy designs were preferred in the stands compared to previous years.”
At the fair, we had the opportunity to see the innovative products of our proud brands that manufacture in Turkey, and to keep our finger on the pulse of world brands and sectoral trends. In addition to following innovations, our delegation established important communications with the participants at the fair to establish new business connections.
In addition to organizing the visit as BEYSAD, we provided our delegation with the opportunity to make appointments with important brands such as BSH, Vestel, and Haier and to meet them privately.
This year, the fair focuses entirely on artificial intelligence, and it is seen that artificial intelligence technology is used in all consumer electronics categories, from TVs to refrigerators, from headphones to laptops. While besides global brands such as Samsung, LG, Lenovo and TCL, brands such as Arzum and Vestel are participating in IFA 2024, domestic brands Beko and Arçelik do not have a stand for the first time.
This year, the fair, which is expected to host 2,200 exhibitors from 40 countries and 182,000 visitors from 137 countries, will continue until September 10.
While many global brands are participating in IFA 2024, Vestel and Arzum are also participating, and Vestel, which is participating in IFA for the 32nd time, has opened a store in Berlin.
