The Industry Congress organized by Istanbul Chamber of Industry with the main theme “Sustainable Competitive Power: Structural Transformation in Industry and Economy” was held for the 9^th time in Istanbul Congress Center on 7-8 December 2010. Discussing the new world order arising after the global economic crisis and structural transformation which the world economies have been going through, the congress speakers and guests dwelled on such topics as global trends, structuring models and future capabilities. The visitors showed much attention to the Innovation Exhibition held in the scope of the congress. The congress hosted 26 persons as speakers and representatives from public sector, private sector, universities and non-governmental organizations attended the event. The opening speeches of the 9^th Industry Congress were made respectively by C. Tanıl Küçük, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Istanbul Chamber of Industry, Erdal Bahçıvan, Chairman of the Assembly of the Istanbul Chamber of Industry, M. Rifat Hisarcıklıoğlu, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Union of Chamber and Commodity Exchanges (TOBB) and Nihat Ergün, Minister of Industry and Commerce.

The congress included five sessions and hosted such renowned speakers as Turgay Durak, CEO of Koç Holding, Prof. Ricardo Hausmann, Director of International Development Center of Harvard University and Alan Beattie, International Economy Editor of The Financial Times. The Innovation Exhibition presented innovative products and completed projects of industrial organizations, universities and research institutes. In addition, booths that promoted venture capital, which serves as an intermediary for financing of innovation, were visited by guests.
